The Heart of the Gita: Bhagavad Gita Study Group

  • This event has passed.
Thursday, January 26, 2023
10:00 – 11:00am EST
Online Only

The Bhagavad Gita (“Song of the Lord”) is a beautiful and sacred text of India, known to Hindus and others, worldwide. It has been translated into many different languages, and exists as an eternal testimony to the relationship of love and devotion between the disciple, Arjuna, and the Supreme Lord, Krishna.

The format of this group will be a discussion based on your questions after reading the chapter for the week.  You may think you cannot do this if the text is unfamiliar to you. Yet, the Gita wonderfully adapts itself to questions because there are only two ‘characters’ in the story, Arjuna, the beloved disciple, and Krishna, the manifestation of the Supreme. The questions that are dealt with in the Gita are those that every human being interested in his or her relationship wit the Divine asks.

We will meet online on Thursdays from 10-11am beginning January 12th and ending on Thursday, March 16th. It will be an online only group and a donation per group in the amount of your choosing will be appreciated. You will need to obtain a copy of the Gita in advance of our first meeting in which we will discuss the opening of the Gita. Many translations are available. The one that I am using is by Eknath Eswaran and it is has an audio version available.

If you have not signed up for the group yet, please let me know you plan to attend (ashram@villageoflight.org).  Use  the calendar link to join the group and arrive 5 minutes before it begins so we can start on time.

P.S. Recordings will be available some time after each study group.
