July 4th Prayers for America

Please note: This will take the place of Sunday Satsang on July 3rd and includes a pancake brunch.

Dear Beloved Ones,

It is with sadness held within the bright promise of the future, that I invite you to our July 4th “Prayers for America” gathering, which will take the place of Sunday Satsang. Many will be celebrating this day in this nation’s history. Yet, many others will be grieving this same history which, at this time, has presented us with several Supreme Court decisions that are seen as granting freedom to a certain group of individuals, but of severely limiting it for a great many others. This inequality is a source of great sorrow for those who uphold the ideal of democracy.

If you have been affected by the Supreme Court decisions this past week regarding gun safety and ownership, and most significantly by the overturning of Roe v. Wade, please pray with us for a future in which a powerful minority of the electorate will no longer disproportionately influence the political life of this country. Instead, pray for a future in which “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” will truly be granted to all without exception. Today, there are many who feel that the ideal of equality and respect for all has gotten buried beneath fierce political agendas which challenge the very principles upon which this country was founded.

Where light gathers together with an intention to strengthen us into a “more perfect union,” such light will inevitably be a blessing for this nation. I hope to see you on July 4th.
