Feed the Hungry
Feed the Hungry is a project of Light Omega, focused on helping those who are in need due to limited access to food and water. It is based on the understanding that we are one human family, and that all who suffer from deprivation are part of us and we of them. We invite you to join your heart with ours by becoming a contributor to our efforts, and by extending your love to those in need.
Your donation to Feed the Hungry involves more than contributing to worthy organizations and providing food for the needy, however. Each contribution establishes a ‘line of light’ from your heart, through the distributing organization, directly to those in need. This line of light contributes vital energy that supports life, in addition to the funds which provide physical nourishment. It is as important as the money you send and is present in all donations, no matter how large or small.
We believe that money is energy, and that in providing food, water, and health care to various communities in need, we are also extending an energy of love to these locations and peoples.
Currently, Feed the Hungry is sending ongoing support to eight organizations around the world:
- One Spirit Lakota (South Dakota, USA)
- Hopi Relief Organization (Arizona, USA)
- The Western Massachusetts Food Bank (Massachusetts, USA
- The Amherst Survival Center (Amherst, Massachusetts, USA)
- Water.org (Global)
- The World Food Program’s Yemen Branch (Yemen)
- World Food Program’s Ukraine Branch (Ukraine)
- World Food Program’s Afghanistan Branch (Afghanistan)
- Baba’s Feed Project (India)
Feed the Hungry began in 2018 with assistance to the Lakota Sioux of the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota. This continues to be a central focus of our efforts today. To the Lakota, we have provided monthly deliveries of food boxes to children, families, and elders, and vouchers that allow them to shop at a local market. The Lakota are a people of great beauty and sacredness, with a profound spirituality that is attached to the land, to their language, and to their principles as handed down by White Buffalo Calf Woman.
In addition to the Lakota, and due to the generosity of our donors, we have also been able to help other indigenous communities with food and health needs during this time of coronavirus. Because of inadequate health care conditions on many reservations, indigenous communities are two to four times as likely to develop Covid-19 than the rest of the U.S. population. With our donor funds, we have been able to support the Navajo and Hopi nations of Arizona and New Mexico, the rural villages of northern India, and the people of Tamil Nadu in southern India.
As a committee, we are continuing to pray together to see if there are other organizations and locations that we need to include in our outreach. The process of prayer and attunement together is ongoing. If you would like to learn more about our work or join our Planning Committee, please email feedthehungry@lightomega.org.
May the generosity of your hands and heart be blessed.
