I cannot describe India to you except through the prism of my own heart and experience of it. India’s spiritual depth and vast spiritual heritage breathes a sacredness that much of the West has lost. Those who seek a return to this sense of the sacred and to live a life that is full of spiritual depth and meaning will find in India a spiritual home. This was my own discovery, and I wish to offer it to those who seek that deeper love of the Divine that does not have to be pursued or worked at, but is just ‘there’ as part of the fabric of daily life and of the life of the heart. This is India, my beloved. — GurujiMa
I first encountered India, the beloved, in physical form in 2017, and when I did, felt I had known her forever. The very air one breathes in India is sacred, the earth verdant with life and the energy of the Divine Mother, the Mother of All.
India is a land of contradictions, the sacred and the profane; the devout and the greedy and commercial; the beauty of the sarees the women wear and the filth in the streets of the cities.
Light Omega is committed to helping the people of India in ways that would increase personal freedom and decrease poverty and class distinctions. It is committed to revealing the beauty and grace of India’s holy past to the western world, that it may benefit from it. This is not just India’s Hindu past, but India’s multi-cultural past and her many ways of being throughout the ages.
Many hearts are touched by India, even those who have not traveled there. For she is a vibration, not just a location; an energy, not just a thought. If you are inspired through your own heart by this sacred land, or even if you are just curious, there are several ways to become an explorer with Light Omega of India’s vast spiritual bounty.
Within the visionary township of Auroville in Tamil Nadu, southern India, lives the work of Mohanam, whose goal it is to help create harmony between the traditional Tamil culture of the surrounding villages and the evolutionary perspective of Auroville as described by Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. This goal directs us to the heart of what needs to transform in India, namely, the traditional culture needs to join with an evolutionary perspective concerning what human beings can become, not by losing its cultural identity, but by adding to it the perspectives that within all cultures have liberated people to become more free to be themselves.
As Auroville is visionary, so, too, is Mohanam visionary, holding a vision of the peace, unity, and absence of class consciousness that can exist among people, no matter what their educational status or background.
Light Omega’s Support of the Empowerment of Women
Women, by tradition, have been second-class citizens in most of India, raised to take care of their husbands, children, and households, but not to make a difference in society as a whole. Within the villages of India, where traditional culture is strongest, this is especially true. Mohanam now has a project called ‘AuroShakthi’ which is designed to empower women in the nearby villages to take charge of their lives and to earn a living. You can read more about it and make a financial contribution to support this goal, or volunteer on-site at Mohanam for a period of time and help out with your heart and your hands.
The empowerment of women who have been severely disenfranchised and limited in their capacity to serve in significant social, economic, and political roles, is of great importance in today’s world. Light Omega’s commitment to the forward movement of India’s consciousness connects us with this goal in a significant way.
The Joining of East and West
There is a spiritual vibrancy in the exchange between India’s devotional nature and the United States’ emphasis on personal freedom and equality. It is an exchange that is of great benefit to both societies, and in a larger sense, to the planet as a whole. It is Light Omega’s sacred task to assist this mingling of energies for the purpose of creating a holy and unified Earth, infused with the life and light of the Divine.
We hope you will join us in this effort.
