Attuning to Inner Truth
There is nothing more important in this time than to know that the truth of who we are is calling to us to become it, to live it, to express it. It’s calling to us to be that truth and to be the light that we carry.
Welcome, beloved ones, to Words of Light. May the light of your own consciousness, your own deeper truth, always be with you so that you know what is needed in a moment-to-moment way, day by day and in your life in general.
There is nothing more important in this time than to know that the truth of who we are is calling to us. It’s calling to us to become it, to live it, and to express it. It’s calling to us to have the courage to be that truth and to be the light that we carry.
In this time when there are so many intense and difficult emotions that are moving through our collective environment and even our personal environment, it’s often difficult to know that the light of truth actually exists as a flame that doesn’t go out, but that remains within each of us as a pointer, an indicator of what we need to pay attention to. And so, in any moment or in any day, that is our task — to believe in the light that we carry, and to orient towards it the way a homing pigeon would orient towards its home, or the way a fish would swim back to its place of birth, or the way a bird would find its nest. We need to have the same relationship with the place that we come from, the Source that we come from. And that relationship involves attuning to the truth that we carry.
We are being called to be this truth. We are being called more deeply than we may be aware to no longer let fear get in our way, to no longer let division within ourselves get in our way. To no longer let frustration and impatience get in our way, or the sense of limitation.
In this time when there are so many intense and difficult emotions that are moving through our collective environment and even our personal environment, it’s often difficult to know that the light of truth actually exists as a flame that doesn’t go out, but that remains within each of us as a pointer, an indicator of what we need to pay attention to.
We have challenges to face, of course, but the determination to be ourselves, to live in truth, and to live with a sense of deeper meaning is calling to us every day more strongly. And it’s up to us to listen fearlessly, courageously, with a willingness to make mistakes. With a willingness to take risks. With a willingness to understand that what we do affects everything around us.
It’s not just a personal matter of living faithfully with respect to our own truth. It’s a matter of bringing that to the world, of being that because it’s what we’re meant to be. This is the gift of the freedom to be ourselves. It is what we are made to do. The gift of the freedom to be faithful to ourselves is the freedom from which all other freedoms come. Because if we’re not faithful to ourselves, we live a life with others and within ourself that does not honor the truth of our deepest core. We can have external freedoms, but these will come and go according to the variability of emotional need and mental outlook of the group and nation to which we belong. Without rootedness in the deepest core of who we are, no freedom that becomes established upon the Earth can last and be accorded to all, both human and non-human alike.
In this time that we live in, each human heart is desiring more and more to express itself. And each human being, the embodiment of the soul within, is desiring more and more to take their place in the world as a dignified expression of the Divine, visible and known for what he or she is. When we see groups of people marching to ask for or demand their rights as human beings, we can think about this because it’s part of the same thing. Not the anger, necessarily, which has different roots, but the wish to live a life that has dignity and respect in it, in which the inner freedom to be oneself can be fully expressed. This is what’s praiseworthy — the hunger for freedom to be oneself and the abolition of all that stands in the way of this. Much of what’s happening, today, is about this, about the need and the hunger for dignity, respect, and freedom.
In our own life, we may have challenges that don’t require marching or protesting. We may have more internal challenges that require the dismantling of old habits of viewing ourselves, habits such as shame, harshness, or an absence of forgiveness.
In our own life, we may have challenges that don’t require marching or protesting. We may have more internal challenges that require the dismantling of old habits of viewing ourselves, habits such as shame, harshness, or an absence of forgiveness. We have many filters through which we view ourselves, and we need to be willing to change our mind about the storyline we’re carrying concerning ourselves. We need to be able to forgive the past and to become the future, a future that corresponds to the deeper truth that we are. And where there has been limitation, and where there has been avoidance, and where there has been fear, and where there has been control and self-protection, we can hold compassion for all of that, for all that had difficulty in it and that still may have difficulty in it, and at the same time we can commit ourselves to what we know in our hearts is the path of becoming. The path of becoming is the path of truth. The path of truth is the unified expression of our soul’s essence, manifesting through our body in its expression outwardly.
That’s what we’re here to do. We’re here to manifest our inner being outwardly, with freedom, courage, and truth. And we’re also here to assist and encourage that process in others. Not to have freedom for ourselves and to let everybody else manage as best they can. No, that is a very limited view of how human beings are meant to relate to each other. That view is based on our history of isolation, separateness, enmity, and competition. It is based on empowerment of one group at the expense of another. We need to know, (and this you’ve heard before. I’m sure), that we are not free until all are free. And when I’m speaking of freedom, I mean, both inner and outer. I mean both the outer privileges of being able to hold a good job, to have food on the table, to be able to educate one’s children. All those are outer freedoms of great importance. I’m also speaking of the inner freedom, the freedom to live according to what our inner heart, our inner life is asking of us.
This is a time when the flame of truth has been ignited, the flame corresponding to the right of each person to pursue their own inner path. That flame has gotten stronger because the soul within is asking with greater strength and greater light-energy to manifest more. And it’s up to us whether we listen, whether we turn away, and with what courage we take our place visibly, tangibly, fearlessly in the world to which we belong and in the human family to which we belong.
We have the choice, however the call is getting louder each day because it’s only through the expression of our freedom to be ourselves that true harmony can be created upon the Earth. Please understand that harmony is based on the attunement of each person to every other within a greater Whole, each one being themselves, and in combination, finding the wholeness of all together.
You may think that this is a very large task for a nation or for a society, and even for yourself as an individual. You may think that you’re doing all that you can in the present to manifest your sense of your own purpose. And that may be true. There are many, today, who have done a lot of self-exploration, a lot of inner work so that the true motives of the heart can become freed up to express. But we’re not here just for ourselves. We’re here for the one Body, the one Being that we are part of. And so, our time here is meant to involve the expression of our own individual freedom, and also the helping of others to become free to be themselves. How we do that requires going inside and asking for guidance related to this. “How may I be of help to my fellow beings? How may I be of help to encourage, and allow, and invite others to become free?”
It’s a wonderful thing because we all have that effect on human consciousness. We are small within the numerical equation of one person versus seven billion on the planet, but we are not small in terms of the energetic network to which we belong.
This is our task, to find the answer to that question. And the answer isn’t one answer. It’s an answer that comes from each individualized heart and soul, based on what your own soul has chosen as a path of growth. But your path of growth is inextricably linked to the path of growth for all other beings, and this must be recognized. It’s a wonderful thing. It’s a wonderful thing because we all have that effect on human consciousness. We are small within the numerical equation of one person versus seven billion on the planet, but we are not small in terms of the energetic network to which we belong. Therefore, (and this is another spiritual principle which I’m sure you’ve heard before), we need to recognize that truth liberates truth in all beings. The freedom to be yourself and to live and walk in your own truth creates a magnetic pull that helps others to find their way. This, you can know — that your own freedom is also a service to others, helping them to find their own path to truth.
We have lived with a dichotomy between the word ‘personal’ and the word ‘collective’ that is changing today. As it changes, it alters our perception of what is unique and solely belonging to our individual self, and what is the part of ourself that is inseparable from others and part of a greater Whole that includes all. We have spoken of ‘personal life’ and ‘public life’ or ‘collective life’ based on this dichotomy. And now we are moving to a new stage of learning that what’s personal is also collective, and what’s collective is also personal, and that the enclosure that we thought surrounded our private life, our ‘personal’ life, never really existed. We were always impacted by everyone, and everyone was always impacted by us. But we didn’t know as much in the past about energy, and we didn’t know as much in an embodied, practical way about the path to unity. We have evolved into a greater degree of understanding, today, now, that what I do affects you, and what you do affects me, and there’s no way of getting around that.
In keeping with that emerging understanding, let us hold in our hearts the desire for our own freedom to be ourselves to awaken that similar desire in others. And let us commit ourselves to that awakening in whatever way we are guided to.
This is a blessed time and a challenging time, and you have chosen to be here to meet this time from the place of your own deeper being. May you be blessed in all the ways you may choose to express that deeper being, and may all who live on the planet at this time be blessed.
